Beat the Burglar this Christmas

Christmas is only one week away, and by now new gadgets, games and gifts will be filling your home. But did you know, the festive month sees a 20% increase in burglaries*, as opportunistic thieves take advantage of the dark evenings and all the new purchases.

With this in mind, we have compiled a list of our top tips to help protect your family, belongings and property this Christmas.
It’s easy to become forgetful amongst the whirlwind of shopping trips and get-togethers at this time of year. Don’t forget to check that you have securely locked your doors and windows when you are heading out!

Locking components in doors and windows can become stiff or rust in winter weather. If you have a PVCu or composite door, why not consider upgrading the euro profile cylinder in your multi-point lock and check all components meet the British Standard required.

As exciting as it is to see all your presents piling up under the tree, it also acts as an invitation to burglars. Try to hold-off putting your presents out until Christmas Eve, especially if your tree is positioned by a window where thieves can see into the property.

Instead, why not invest in a home safe that can protect the smaller, more expensive items such as electrical gadgets or jewellery. Just make sure the safe is bolted to the floor or wall, as you don’t want a burglar running off with the safe as well!
